You’ve probably heard them used on TV shows and Movies (e.g. “That’s a big 10-4, Bandit.” Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983)), and if you’re in law enforcement, you probably use them every day. Ten Codes (10-Codes), Eleven Codes (11-Codes), Emergency Response Codes, Vehicle Codes and Penal Codes are just a few of the different types of radio short codes used by police, fire, and other emergency services.
One of the things I’ve learned when doing a little research on this topic is that the codes, mostly 10 and 11 codes, are not standard across all departments. It’s up to each department to setup the codes they want to use and what those codes mean. Most departments seem to stick to a similar code set, but there are definitely some slight modifications made to fit the departments needs.
Below you will find some basic 10-Codes, 11-Codes, and some Emergency Response Codes. Just remember, in your area, they could be a little different… But hopefully this will give you a decent understanding and a base to work off of.

BCM Gunfighter Grip – Mod 3
Are you looking around for something to do for your AR-15? Or are you building a new AR-15? In either case, for the pistol grip, you should check out the Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM) Gunfighter Mod 3 grip. It definitely makes for a great upgrade to a standard A2 style grip.

Freedom Munitions – 9mm Ammo
I found the Freedom Munitions website a while back when I was attempting to hunt down some ammunition. I liked their prices, and they seem to be a small business that had pretty good reviews, from what I could find.
When the time came that I actually needed to get some more ammunition, I decided to place a “test” order for 500 rounds of 9mm (124gr RN, New).
I placed the order via the website, and everything went very smoothly. I received transaction information via e-mail and shipping and tracking information quickly. Everything shipped (and I had the tracking number) within a day. This is something that I have come to appreciate from businesses. Prompt and accurate information is KEY to a good customer experience.

Safariland ALS vs BLACKHAWK! Serpa
I recently had a friend show me their Safariland Automatic Locking System (ALS®) holster, and in playing around with it, I decided I really liked the retention release. So I picked up a Safariland 6378 ALS holster to compare to my BLACKHAWK!® CQC® Serpa® holster.
I normally use the Serpa holster for Outside the Waistband (OWB) carry, and have used them for many training, etc. So that is what I’m most familiar with. I really like them, but the release on the ALS is something that I really like.
DPMS Armorers Tool Review
Lets face it, you probably have an AR-15, maybe a couple of them; and if you don’t already have one, you’ve probably thought about getting or building one.
And, if you don’t already know, there are a few specialized tools you need to build an AR-15, or take one completely apart. The main things you may run into are the barrel nut and the castle nut, but you may also need something for compensators or flash suppressors, etc. I’ve used many tools for these various things, ranging from specialized tools, to off the shelf Craftsmen wrenches.
Many off the shelf tools will work for things like the compensator/flash suppressor and the other various pins, and screws, but for things like the castle nut and free float rail installations, you really need special tools, and one that will hold up to some use.
Remington Recall (Model 700, Model Seven)
Do you own a Remington Model 700 or Model Seven? If so, there has been a safety recall for issues with the X-Mark PRO (XMP) triggers manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014.
The description of the issue is, the “… triggers could, under certain circumstances, unintentionally discharge.” They say this is due to excess bonding agent used to assemble the triggers. You can read the full recall notice, here.
If you want to check if your model is effected by the recall, you can enter the serial number on the recall website, http://xmprecall.remington.com/.
This recall applies to all Model 700 and Model Seven rifles as the XMP trigger is “standard equipment.”
If you have a rifle that is effected by the recall, Remington will send you shipping materials, to send back your rifle, and Remington will cover all costs for shipping, inspection, and repairs.
