If you use Ubiquiti’s UniFi line of products, they recently released version 5 of their UniFi management software (current version at time of writing is 5.0.6).
This new software adds in a slew of new features, You can get the full list here. Some of the key items are an updated UI that is also “mobile friendly”, a new more advanced and better looking AngularJS based HotSpot portal and editor, and updated UniFi AP firmware.
After getting a Ubiquity UniFi AP and controller setup, I decided to get the hotspot running, just for the fun of it.
The default UniFi hotspot is not bad, as far as a free setup goes, but it’s not very “clean” as far as a web system goes. I’m sure as the product develops along it will get cleaned up. But for a businesses use, out of the box, there is a lot to be desired.
So what I decided to do was to clean up the HTML, integrate a responsive UI template, and get things matched up to my website a little better with a logo and a similar color scheme.
I recently decided to upgrade on my office WiFi from a basic wireless router setup in bridging mode to an actual access point with some more advanced features.
What I ended up deciding to get was a Ubiquiti setup using the UniFi controller software and a UAP-AC access point (AP).
So far, it’s been an awesome setup…
